Dr Rikard-Bell graduated in Medicine from the University of NSW in 1978. He trained in Psychiatry at the Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospitals and became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1988. He completed further qualifications in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1990, and a Fellowship in autistic spectrum disorders and developmental disability in 2005.
Dr Rikard-Bell held these positions: Clinical Director of the Arndell Children’s Residential Unit and staff specialist Royal North Shore Hospital, based at North Ryde (now Coral Tree Family Unit) from 1990; Lecturer in Child Psychiatry at Queensland University in 1992; Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital until 1995; from 1995 Dr Rikard-Bell acted as a Visiting Medical Officer to Sutherland Hospital until 2013. Dr Rikard-Bell was a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine James Cook University from 2013 until 2016. Current roles: from 2006 he has visited Dubbo and he continues as a Visiting Medical Officer to Dubbo CAMHS and shares his time with professional rooms at Total Health Care, Bondi Junction.
